IWC 1917 Vintage 14k With Extract From The Archives
Excellent condition for the year IWC 14 karat gold hand wound dress watch made in 1917. IWC have been making specialised and high quality watches in Switzerland since 1868. Many of the IWC vintage watches are now prized collectors items. This is an excellent example of what IWC has to offer from over 100 years ago. It comes with an extract from the archives showing that it was built in 1917, and sold ib Blok & Zonen, Amsterdam. This would have been very rare at the time as 1917 was two thirds into World War I where luxury goods, especially gold would have been a rarity. The watch is small in build as they were all made quite small in the early days to show off their watchmaking skill. The caseback is a hinged back. The lugs are in the style of “wire lugs”. Also to set the time, you need to press a small button below the crown, then turn the crown. The crown does not pull out like on modern watches. The dial is a white enamelled dial with Breguet style numerals and Breguet style hands with open circle ends. The hands are in blued steel. It has a small subsidiary seconds at the 6 position. Outstanding watch and a proud feature in any collection.
